(Orange County, California) - The Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP) Orange County Chapter announced the 2008 Swimming Pool and Spa Design Awards Winners at a special banquet event on Friday, April 4, 2008. The Design Awards Banquet and Golf event was held at Westridge Golf Club in La Habra. A total of 34 awards were given out this year for excellence in pool and spa designs.
The Design Awards, sponsored by Orange County APSP, recognizes licensed swimming pool and spa builders for their extraordinary project designs over the past year. Builders submit their entries accompanied by photographs of the completed project and pertinent background and descriptive information. For renovation jobs, a "before" picture is also submitted for contrast. A blind judging process is facilitated by the Association where all information identifying the builder is removed from the entries and replaced with an internal identifying code. A panel of judges reviews the information and selects the top entries from among the candidates in each category. The Best in Show award is given to the entry achieving the highest overall score among the judges.
In addition to industry recognition among peers, the Association reaches out to consumers with the Design Awards, with winning photos being published in a special newspaper ad supplement in the Orange County Register on Memorial Day Weekend. Memorial Day is noted for the official kickoff of the summer season. Many pool owners begin spending more time in the water, and many more homeowners contemplate having their dream pool or spa added to their own backyard. The Design Award-winning pools and spas allow consumers to see far beyond what is possible to the breathtaking and astonishing results of what has been achieved with actual projects.
This year, the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals is working to designate May 31 thru June 6 as Water Safety week, bringing awareness to the safe enjoyment of recreational water features.
